Seed to Shuck owns a fleet of workboats based at Hoopers Island that are used for surveying and planting projects on the Chesapeake Bay. The vessels can also be chartered for site visits and other uses on the Bay and its tributaries.
Robert M. Utz
An historic wooden oyster schooner built in 1917 on Staten Island. The 52’ vessel was purchased by Seed to Shuck in 2023 and brought to the Chesapeake after many years of service in the oyster and clam business on Long Island Sound.
Shell of a Journey
A flat-bottomed, 54’ Gaudet aluminum boat from Louisiana suitable for shallow waters. Shell of Journey is powered by two 350hp outboard engines.
Richard Lee
A former tour boat that has been converted to an oyster planter. Built in 1979, the 65’ x 20’ vessel originally carried visitors between Reedville, Virginia, and Smith Island. The boat can hold 3,000 bushels of shell.
